According to the state lottery, Virginia experienced a number of winners on January 13th alone.
- In Virginia, a total of 201,739 Mega Millions tickets secured prizes varying from $2 to $10,000.
- The winning ticket that matched four out of the first five numbers along with the Mega Ball number was sold at the Limestone Drive 7-Eleven in Gainesville, VA, earning the lucky winner a prize of $10,000.
The Mega Millions draws take place on Tuesdays and Fridays at 11 p.m., resulting in a total of 26 drawings that contributed to the jackpot. This extraordinary jackpot run commenced in October and concluded on an auspicious Friday the 13th in Maine.
Within that specific time frame, the sale of Virginia Mega Millions tickets resulted in an approximate profit of $28.9 million, which is allocated towards K-12 public education funding. Lottery items are available for purchase at over 5,300 retail locations throughout the state.
