If you were a William Hill player in Virginia, you’ll now see a new name for the sports betting app: Caesars Sportsbook. The William Hill brand is no longer available in the state of Virginia.
The modification to the Virginia sportsbook was declared by officials on Monday. Within a day, on Tuesday, August 3, the updated branding appeared on the William Hill URL and desktop version of the website.
Furthermore, customers were able to access the Caesars Sportsbook VA mobile app for iOS and Android by utilizing their previous WH login credentials.
The updated sportsbook app will function similarly to its predecessor, with one notable enhancement: the incorporation of the Caesars Rewards loyalty program.
Why the William Hill to Caesars Sportsbook rebrand
The recent development signifies Caesars’ continuous acquisition of William Hill. As a result, the platform has transitioned to the Caesars name and is now operating on the Liberty technology platform.
The change has been brought about by a grand marketing campaign titled “Play like a Caesar.” You might have come across the advertisements showcasing comedians JB Smoove and Patton Oswalt, adding a touch of humor to the campaign.
On Tuesday, Caesars sent an email to its Virginia customers, sharing the following information.
Please note that although your app will undergo a name and logo change, your login information, account details, account balance, and any active bets will remain unchanged. If you have auto-updates enabled, you are good to go! Otherwise, kindly update your current William Hill app to the new Caesars Sportsbook app.
Caesars officials are assuring customers of numerous advantages that come along with the transition, including increased flexibility and responsiveness.
According to Tom Reeg, the CEO of Caesars Entertainment,
“Our revamped Caesars Sportsbook now offers personalized promotions, adaptable betting limits, an extensive selection of wagering options, and a user-friendly interface for an enhanced betting experience.”
William Hill was a mid-level player in VA
In order for Caesars to establish dominance in Virginia, it must strive to enlarge its empire.
As of June, FanDuel holds the highest market share at 49.5%. Following closely behind are DraftKings Sportsbook with a 25.4% share and BetMGM with a 16.4% share. These three companies have managed to capture a significant portion of the market since its launch on January 21.
In the first half of the year, William Hill accounted for approximately $94 million, equivalent to 7.1% of all Virginia sports bets. Among the seven sportsbooks operating in VA, including BetRivers (1.1%), Unibet (0.3%), and WynnBET (0.3%), William Hill holds the fourth position.
Virginia became the state to reach $1 billion in wagers the fastest, thanks to the collective efforts of those books.
Caesars’ rebranding is strategically timed, coinciding with the upcoming 2021 NFL and NCAA college football seasons. As these seasons commence within a few weeks, sportsbooks will experience their peak activity period.
Caesars Rewards in Virginia
Sports bettors can now take pleasure in Caesars Rewards, the well-liked loyalty program offered by the company, following the transition to Caesars.
By placing wagers, players accumulate points called “Caesars Rewards Tier Credits” and “Reward Credits,” which can be exchanged for complimentary play, dining, and exclusive VIP entertainment opportunities at any of Caesars’ 50 properties across 16 states.
Some nearby locales include:
- North Carolina’s Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River
- Harrah’s Cherokee (North Carolina)
- Horseshoe Casino Baltimore (Maryland)
- Harrah’s Philadelphia (Pennsylvania)
As players accumulate credits and progress to higher tiers, they can choose to redeem their rewards either online or in person at Caesars properties. Additionally, as they move up the tiers, the perks they receive become increasingly impressive.
