It is a natural tendency for humans to be creatures of habit. Certain individuals stick to a fixed route when heading to work every day, while others consistently choose the same meal from a specific restaurant. Additionally, there are those who strictly adhere to a structured routine, repeating it day after day.
A Virginia Lottery player’s unique routine recently yielded a fortunate outcome.
Virginia Lottery player makes a habit out of winning
In preparation for the March 28 drawing of the Virginia Lottery’s Pick 4 game, Ben Shuler followed a routine which involved submitting 30 different entries into the Dominion State lottery game, all consisting of the number combination 0-8-1-6.
Shuler received a call from his cousin after midnight, informing him that it was their fortunate day. Regrettably, the cousin had used the winning combination on just one entry.
Shuler placed a $1 bet on 29 tickets and won the grand prize of $5,000 for each ticket. Interestingly, he also decided to put 50 cents on one ticket, which surprisingly yielded a decent reward of $2,500 for an unknown reason.
The Virginian was able to win a whopping $147,500 from a single drawing and a specific combination of numbers. It is rare for persistence to yield such incredible returns, but this lottery player’s determination certainly paid off in a generous manner.
Winning just one entry in Pick 4 has a probability of 1 in 10,000. However, the chances of winning 30 entries is significantly greater, to the point where if all the winning entries happened in a single drawing, the resulting number would be so astronomically high that it might cause your calculator to overheat.
Shuler, who lives in Herndon, bought 27 tickets from High Up Food Mart located on Community Plaza Drive in Sterling, and the remaining three tickets were purchased from the 7-11 on Towncenter Plaza in Sterling.
Fellow players use similar strategies
When choosing his Pick 4 numbers for the March 19 drawing, Larry Speight from Carrolltown, like Shuler, employed a similar thought process. He took inspiration from license plates he had observed on Virginia roads, ultimately opting for the combination 8-6-6-0.
Speight informed the Virginia Lottery:
“I had a strong desire for a major breakthrough! If you have a positive intuition about it, go ahead and embrace it!”
Speight demonstrated his actions speak louder than words as he not only talked about it, but also took action. He bought a remarkable 42 entries, all featuring the same digit sequence. As a result, he emerged victorious with a whopping $210,000 in total winnings. It is worth noting that he obtained these winning tickets from Five Brother Quick Stop, located on Mercury Boulevard in Hampton.
To participate in Pick 4, you have the option of submitting an entry for either $1 or 50 cents. Next, you get to choose a four-digit sequence from the range of 0000 to 9999. Once that is done, you can proceed to select from the various game types available:
- Please ensure that your numbers are in the same order as the winning numbers.
- Regardless of the sequence in which the numbers are drawn, you will be deemed a winner if your numbers correspond.
- 50/50: With a $1 entry fee, 50 cents can be allocated specifically for the exact order, while the remaining 50 cents can be used for any order.
- Combination: Follow the precise sequence for every possible arrangement of your four-digit number.
In order to add a level of assurance to their gamble, Virginians have the option to participate in the FIREBALL drawing that takes place after each Pick 4 selection, both in the afternoon and at night.
In this game, a number will be selected from a set of balls labeled 0-9. Subsequently, you will utilize the FIREBALL number to substitute one of the Pick 4 numbers. If this number aligns with any of the four fresh number combinations, you will emerge victorious and secure a FIREBALL prize.
By choosing to participate in FIREBALL, the price of your initial Pick 4 entry is doubled.
