Recently, Virginia Lottery players have been scoring significant wins, spanning from Annandale to Virginia Beach and from Sterling to Danville.

Both lotto draw and scratch ticket winners are included in the million-dollar list.

Virginia Lottery players get another jackpot win

Surprisingly, the Mudd family from Virginia is incredibly fortunate when it comes to the Virginia Lottery. Not only did they have a family member win a million dollars in 2019, but just recently, they welcomed another family member as a $3 million winner.

Sterling resident, Danny Mudd, recently struck it big with a $3 million jackpot, courtesy of a 50X the Money scratcher ticket. Interestingly, his brother Terry had also experienced lottery luck three years prior, winning a cool $1 million on a different scratcher.

Danny Mudd expressed his disbelief to Lottery officials, exclaiming, “I was in complete denial, thinking, ‘This is impossible!'”

Instead of receiving the full amount over a span of 30 years, the family’s most recent winner chose to opt for a one-time cash payment. Consequently, Danny’s total earnings amounted to $1,875,000 before taxes.

According to the Virginia Lottery, Mudd purchased the lucky scratcher at the Sheetz convenience store located at 21304 Windmill Parc Drive in Sterling. The 50X the Money scratcher game offers prizes ranging from $20 to $3 million. This particular win in Sterling is the first $3 million scratcher to be claimed, with three more remaining to be redeemed.

In total, the chances for Virginia Lottery players to win the top prize are 1 in 1,836,000.

Danny Mudd expressed, “I still can’t believe it. I’m just grinning from ear to ear!”

The probability of winning any prize on a 50X the Money scratch ticket is approximately 1 in 3.03.

Virginia Beach educator claims online lotto win

A new homework assignment has been given to an educator and former school principal residing in Virginia Beach: Determine the tax amount on a $1 million victory.

Alka Franceschi’s $1 million win teaches us an important lesson: It is crucial to immediately check your lottery tickets.

Franceschi remained unaware of her $1 million fortune for two weeks after her online participation in the Virginia Lottery. The Lottery sent her an email after the drawing on August 9, notifying her of her win, but without specifying the exact amount. It was only when she logged into her Virginia Lottery account that she finally uncovered her unexpected wealth.

She expressed, “It’s truly hard to believe.”

The winning ticket had been bought by her from the Lottery website, valottery.com. Opting for an easy pick, she let the computer choose the numbers, which turned out to be incredibly fortunate. The only number she didn’t get right was the Mega Ball, which happened to be 13 on that particular night.

A payday from the Annandale Safeway

Jose Flores Velasquez believed he had secured a $600 victory in the 20X the Money game, only to discover that he had merely scratched the tip of the iceberg.

The resident from Annandale was prepared to collect the lesser sum, but upon cashing in his winning 20X the Money ticket, lottery staff emphasized that he had actually struck an incredibly fortunate stroke of luck.

Against all odds of 1 in 1,754,400, Velasquez defied expectations and won a remarkable $1 million. The scratcher ticket that led to his victory was purchased at the Safeway located on Little River Turnpike.

He opted for the $759,878 lump sum instead of receiving $1 million spread over 30 years. Additionally, Safeway receives $10,000 for selling the winning ticket.

Someone has won the top prize playing 20X the Money for the second time, and this game offers prizes ranging from $10 to $1 million. The Lottery has confirmed that there is still one unclaimed top prize available.

Velasquez informed the lottery officials about his intentions for his substantial winnings, which primarily involve providing for his family and potentially embarking on a personal business venture.

Virginia Lottery player in Danville has a ‘Mega’ Millionaire

Unbeknownst to them, a fortunate individual carrying out their daily routine is the rightful recipient of a remarkable $1 million Mega Millions second-prize triumph. Alternatively, they might be patiently biding their time before stepping forward to claim their well-deserved reward.

The fortunate individual who emerged as the recipient of the victorious ticket was the one who made their purchase at Sunrise 6, conveniently located near the 2120 Franklin Turnpike in Danville. The winning combination for the drawing that took place on September 20 consisted of the numbers 9, 21, 28, 30, and 52, with an additional Mega Ball number of 10. Additionally, there was another winner who managed to obtain the first five numbers, securing a prize of $1 million. However, despite these accomplishments, no one managed to claim the substantial jackpot of $277 million on that particular evening. The odds of both million-dollar victories were an impressive 1 in 12,607,306.

Upon obtaining the winning ticket, it is advised to promptly sign the back to confirm ownership. Subsequently, the next course of action would be to contact the lottery and claim the prize. Virginia Lottery participants are given a 180-day window from the date of the drawing to do so.
