Some recent winners of the Virginia Lottery Pick 4 were not satisfied with just one winning ticket.

Instead, they repeatedly used their selected numbers and won the grand prize with handfuls of tickets.

In a remarkable instance, a player managed to secure victory in the VA Lottery Pick 4 a remarkable 25 times in a single day using identical numbers. Following this, a few weeks later, another Pick 4 player achieved a similar feat by winning 20 times within a single drawing.

Earning a spot in lottery lore can be achieved in that manner.

Pick 4 wins worth $5,000 each

It’s not a common occurrence to come across such an extraordinary tale, considering that the Pick 4 drawing is a regular feature in state lotteries.

Getting them in consecutive months is even more uncommon.

On July 17, Raymond Harrington, hailing from Virginia Beach, successfully picked the numbers 4-6-4-0 to secure a victory in the VA Lottery Pick 4. Remarkably, he opted to play these exact same numbers for all 25 winning tickets.

Harrington’s total earnings amounted to $125,000, with $5,000 earned as the grand prize from Pick 4.

Tony Miles, a resident of South Boston, showcased his remarkable luck while visiting Halifax, Virginia. On August 22nd, he decided to take the opportunity and purchased a staggering 20 tickets. His decision proved to be incredibly wise as he emerged victorious in all of them while playing the Pick 4. With the winning combination of 1-9-2-9, Tony secured an impressive prize of $100,000.

Odds of winning Pick 4

The chances of winning the Pick 4 through an exact-order match stand at 1 in 10,000. Each ticket costs $1, meaning the $5,000 grand prize only accounts for 50% of the total prize pool, which is quite low.

However, the viral sensations were not deterred by the long odds of the Pick 4.

Instead of selecting various number combinations like many Pick 4 players do, they prefer to stick with a single set of digits and let it ride.

According to Harrington’s statement to VA Lottery officials:

An inexplicable feeling urged me to play 25 times.

About the Virginia Lottery Pick 4

The Virginia Lottery offers a variety of draw games, including the Pick 4, Pick 3, Cash 5, and Bank A Million for in-state players. Additionally, there are multi-state draw games like Mega Millions, Powerball, and Cash4Life that offer substantial jackpot prizes.

There are two draws per day for the Pick 4 game in the VA Lottery.

Harrington and Miles opted for the traditional exact-order Pick 4, requiring their numbers to match precisely.

In addition, the VA Lottery provides players with the opportunity to play in any order, allowing them to match the numbers in any sequence. Payouts for such plays vary from $200 to $1,200, depending on the selected number combination.

Players have the option to select 4 players and also choose a 50/50 alternative. By selecting this split ticket, players are placing bets on both an exact-order match and an any-order match, each with their respective payouts.

In addition to that, players have the option to choose Combo Play, where they can place a $1 wager on every possible number combination for their selected Pick 4 number. The draws for Pick 4 and other Virginia Lottery games can be streamed on VALottery.com and its Facebook page, as well as broadcasted live on several Virginia TV stations.

The revenue generated by the Virginia Lottery exclusively aids in funding K-12 education across the commonwealth.
