The Virginia Lottery online players are on the verge of winning nearly $500 million in less than a year since its introduction.
Officials recently announced that since its launch on July 1, the VA Lottery has witnessed over 163,000 unique players winning a grand total exceeding $400 million through its online game offerings.
This online lottery launch is being hailed as the most successful in the nation.
Moreover, the most remarkable aspect is that the advent of online lotto sales has not negatively impacted traditional sales at retail outlets.
Virginia Lottery online game options
The online games of the Virginia Lottery have been accessible for almost nine months.
On the VA Lottery’s official site, players have the option to fund their accounts and participate in games. It is important to note that not all lottery games are accessible online.
In-person purchases are required for daily draw games like Pick 3, Pick 4, and Cash 5. Similarly, traditional scratch-off tickets, also known as “scratchers,” can only be obtained from the Virginia Lottery’s 5,300 retail outlets spread across the commonwealth.
Nevertheless, online players possess exclusive alternatives at their disposal, such as digital games that essentially mimic the concept of “online scratchers.”
Included in the comprehensive selection of online games offered by the VA Lottery are:
- Some examples of instant win games are Queen of Diamonds and Virginia Cash Expander.
- Some of the specialty instant win games offered include Blackjack Doubler, Wheel of Fortune, and Instant Keno Multiplier.
- Some of the jackpot draw games available are Powerball, Mega Millions, and Cash4Life.
VA Lottery online players have accumulated a whopping 85 million wins with the available menu of games. It is evident that the majority of these victories resulted in smaller prize payouts.
Earlier this year, a player achieved an extraordinary seven-figure payout.
The biggest VA online lotto prize: $2 million
Betty Wong of McLean made the most out of her online lottery purchase on January 13th.
After successfully matching the initial five numbers drawn on January 13th, she secured a remarkable $2 million victory in the Powerball.
In addition to Wong and other players accumulating enormous winnings, the VA Lottery’s retail partners are also witnessing robust sales. Officials have stated that online sales have not only supported but also aided in promoting traditional retail sales.
Kevin Hall, the Executive Director of the VA Lottery, stated
The Virginia Lottery has exceeded our expectations with its online players, establishing itself as the leading online lottery launch in the country. Providing customers with the option to play online is crucial in staying relevant in the current market, while also bolstering and supporting the traditional retail aspect of the business.
