Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol, recently launched, has been operational for approximately two months, yet employees from the Virginia casino are already anticipating a salary boost. The organization responsible for Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol has committed $100 million towards enhancing the salaries of staff members across Hard Rock Cafés, Casinos, and Hotels.

According to Hard Rock International and Seminole Gaming, the pay increases are applicable to a total of 95 job categories across the United States.

  • Cooks
  • Housekeepers
  • Security
  • Public space staff members
  • Staff members at call centers and beyond.

On Monday, the announcement was made by the company in Hollywood, FL. In certain instances, Hard Rock gathered employees in a conference room to deliver the positive update.

Hard Rock Chairman Jim Allen expressed that throughout his career spanning over four decades, he had never been part of such a significant historic event.

He referred to the enhanced quality of life as a “realization of a lifelong dream.”

I take pride in being a part of the life-changing impact we have had on people.

Hard Rock employees across the nation are eligible for the pay raises, while the company plans to hire approximately 1,600 individuals at the increased starting wage.

What does the Hard Rock raise mean for Virginia casino employees?

According to the Bristol Herald Courier, the new starting wages for non-tipped employees at Virginia casinos range from $18 to $21 an hour. This increase in hourly rate adds up to approximately $14,560 per year, surpassing the state minimum wage of $11 per hour.

Currently, the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Bristol offers a minimum salary of $37,400 for 42 different job positions.

The company, in its announcement on Monday, referred to the $100 investment as a continued endeavor to show appreciation and respect for its workforce. They believe that these salary enhancements position Hard Rock as a leader in terms of compensation within the gaming and hospitality sectors.

During the pandemic, frontline employees were awarded bonuses and additional benefits.

Once the Bristol Mall is fully transformed into a gaming and resort complex, the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Bristol is expected to employ approximately 5,200 individuals.

Currently, there are approximately 600 employees working at a temporary casino situated in the former Belk department store location within the mall.

The upcoming Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol, worth $400 million, will showcase:

  • The hotel boasts a total of 700 rooms.
  • 20,000-seat, outdoor live-music venue
  • 3,200-seat amphitheater

Located right off Interstate 81 (Exit 1 in Virginia, shortly after crossing the Tennessee state line), the Bristol Casino, soon to be known as the Future Home of Hard Rock, operates around the clock, seven days a week. With an ambitious target in mind, developers aim to have the complete resort and casino fully functional by July 2025.
