After much anticipation, the Rivers Portsmouth Casino Resort has finally appointed its new general manager, and he is none other than a well-recognized figure within the gaming industry.
Rivers Portsmouth, slated to open in 2025, will be overseen by Roy Corby, according to an announcement by Rush Street Gaming.
The future Hampton Roads-area resort benefits from Corby’s extensive experience spanning over 30 years.
About new Rivers Portsmouth Casino GM Roy Corby
Corby previously held the role of senior vice president of operations for global gaming solutions, where he was responsible for overseeing the operations of three full-service casinos. He has now taken up a new position with the upcoming Virginia casino.
In addition to his role as a property leader at Agua Caliente Resort & Casino in Palm Springs, CA; Sandia Resort & Casino in Albuquerque, NM; and The Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, WW, Corby excelled in his position.
According to Roy Corby’s statement in the announcement:
I am very excited to introduce Rush Street’s successful approach of cutting-edge gaming, exceptional guest satisfaction, nurturing our team members, and fostering community alliances to Portsmouth and Hampton Roads. Having witnessed the advantageous economic effects that regional casinos have on their host cities, I am eager to begin this journey.
Corby possesses the necessary skills, according to Greg Carlin, CEO of Rush Street Gaming, who expressed his viewpoint on the hiring decision.
“He stated that Roy’s diverse experience in operations, his track record of successfully engaging employees, and his strategic marketing abilities make him an ideal fit for Rivers Casino Portsmouth.”
What to expect with Rivers Portsmouth
The new Entertainment District in Portsmouth will be anchored by the Rivers Portsmouth Casino Resort, which will sprawl across a 50-acre plot of land situated on Victory Boulevard.
Aside from the property’s dining establishments and accommodation, the casino will offer a comprehensive selection of gaming choices, encompassing slot machines and table games.
There is a high probability that the property will have a BetRivers Sportsbook to accommodate traditional in-person sports betting.
