Political Junkie? FanDuel Has 2020 Presidential Debate Pick’em Games

FanDuel has recently introduced a unique way to engage in political wagering by launching their 2020 Presidential Debate Pick’em games.

While it may not be traditional gambling, the individual who accurately selects the highest number of answers from a set of 10 questions in the election pool, which is free to participate in, will be awarded a prize of $10,000.

The upcoming debate on Tuesday marks the initial face-off among President Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden, with two more debates to follow.

Does Virginia have enough political enthusiasts to produce a winner who can bring home the ultimate prize and give the state some well-deserved political pride?

Political betting in Virginia?

Following the legalization of sports betting earlier this year in Virginia, the Virginia Lottery has recently introduced its final regulations. Consequently, it is expected that the first online sportsbooks will be operational in VA as early as January.

Political betting, such as placing bets on the outcomes of US elections, is prohibited in Virginia and across the entire United States.

However, FanDuel, a leading global sportsbook, discovered a solution. The new game is centered on a presidential debate rather than a presidential election and does not necessitate any actual money for participation.

To participate in the contest, all you need to do is register on the FanDuel app or website. Once signed up, provide your responses for each question and tune in to any prominent network to witness the debate and assess your performance.

The debate, scheduled for 90 minutes, will be held at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. Moderating the event will be Chris Wallace, the host of Fox News Sunday. The debate is set to commence at 9 p.m. EST.

Players will need to answer the following 10 questions:

  1. What will be the candidates’ way of greeting each other?
  2. What problem will the initial topic tackle?
  3. Who will be the first candidate asked to respond in the debate?
  4. Which tie color will Trump choose to wear?
  5. Is Trump going to call Biden “Sleepy Joe?”
  6. Is it possible that Biden and/or the moderator will bring up Trump’s Twitter activity?
  7. Will Biden mention “Scranton?”
  8. Which candidate will be the first to have their speaking time abruptly ended by the moderator due to exceeding the allotted time?
  9. Is Biden planning to play a song on his phone during the debate?
  10. Is Trump going to bring up the topic of “fake news”?

Players will select either an elbow bump, fist bump, handshake, or none of the above for the initial question. Subsequent questions will provide similar options for players to choose from as answers.

The individual or individuals who provide the highest number of accurate answers will be awarded the $10,000 prize, either by winning it outright or by sharing it with others.

FanDuel’s other 2020 election contests

There will be a total of three debates between President Trump and former Vice President Biden in the lead-up to the general election on November 3.

Apart from the upcoming Tuesday debate, they will also be appearing on stage in Miami on Oct. 15 and in Nashville on Oct. 22. Furthermore, the Republican Vice President, Mike Pence, and Democratic Sen. Kamala Harris will engage in a vice-presidential debate on Oct. 7 in Salt Lake City.

For every debate, FanDuel plans to introduce pick’em games. Along with the $10,000 rewards allocated for each debate, FanDuel has also reserved an additional $10,000 for the top cumulative picker across all four debates.

Furthermore, commencing on October 21st, the company will introduce a complimentary election pool. Participants will have the opportunity to forecast the results of election-related markets in order to secure prizes.

Essentially, it serves as a comprehensive “promotional platform” designed by FanDuel to attract potential customers who might not be typically drawn to conventional sports offerings.

According to Mike Raffensperger, the CMO of FanDuel,

Our dedication to fulfilling our brand promise of providing our players with additional opportunities to win remains unwavering. This was evident when we organized our inaugural political contest for the Democratic Debate in March, a venture that was highly appreciated by our customers. As we forge ahead in pioneering innovation and creativity within our industry, we have observed remarkable engagement surrounding prominent events unrelated to sports, including awards shows, reality TV competitions, and various other occasions.
