How did play-virginia.com come to sponsor NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Brandon Brown?

As mentioned earlier on Thursday, play-virginia.com has become an associate sponsor for Brown’s Brandonbilt Motorsports team for the upcoming Go Bowling 250 event at Richmond Raceway in Virginia.

As the 27-year-old Virginia native enters the Xfinity Series Playoffs, Brown’s No. 68 Chevrolet will proudly display the logos of play-virginia.com.

In collaboration with Caesars Sportsbook, we managed to secure an exclusive Brandon Brown Odds Boost for the race.

Although play-virginia.com may not excel in the sponsorship game, we definitely embrace a touch of razzle-dazzle. We appreciate showmanship, creativity, and, let’s be honest, an overflowing amount of shamelessly cheesy fun.

After coming across a recent viral video featuring Brown and his team, we instantly recognized that he was the perfect choice for us.

A used-car salesman among the NASCAR Xfinity ranks

In June, Brown became the talk of the NASCAR community after a video quickly became popular online (watch it above).

The Woodbridge native, whose team operates in Fredericksburg, is currently experiencing the most successful season of his career. Additionally, he is on the verge of securing a spot in the postseason of NASCAR Xfinity, provided he can improve his position in the standings in the upcoming two races.

However, despite the on-track success, sponsorships were not always easy to obtain.

He said, “Mac MacLeod and I, responsible for team communications and marketing, came up with an idea. We wanted to do something different, something that would catch the attention of announcers if we were performing well in the race. By displaying our signage, they might mention it during the broadcast and help us attract potential sponsors.”

Indeed, the announcers did engage in discussions regarding it. The commentators on FS1 dedicated a significant amount of time to it during one week, and when the Xfinity Series transitioned to NBCSN halfway through the season, the broadcasters on that network also highlighted it.

Brown had a modest aim of attracting some recognition for his team, but he ended up surpassing that humble objective by a wide margin. In his own words:

Our main objective for the video was to maximize its cheesiness in order to leverage humor and capture attention. However, we were completely unaware of the overwhelming amount of publicity it would generate. I was actually cycling when I uploaded it, and my phone incessantly buzzed, making me think there was an issue. Consequently, I had to abruptly end my ride to investigate the reason for all the commotion.

That week holds a special place in MacLeod’s heart as well.

According to him, the video garnered more than 2.2 million impressions on Twitter alone. In fact, Brandon had to expand his email inbox storage because he received hundreds of emails within just a few hours of the video going live on social media.

Benefits of going viral

The video achieved great success, leading Brandonbilt Motorsports to sell out all primary sponsorships for the rest of the season. Only a few associate sponsorships, such as the one play-virginia.com signed for Saturday (and the Oct. 30 race at Martinsville Speedway), are still available.

Currently, the team is financially stable, which is a positive aspect. However, MacLeod emphasized that the video also fulfilled another crucial objective.

“He’s a standout in a competitive sport, and the video truly showcased Brandon’s vibrant personality,” he remarked. “In fact, our recent video featuring our new partner, Haymaker Coffee, further exemplifies Brandon’s charismatic nature.”

This highlights the potential benefits for companies considering partnering with Brandonbilt Motorsports and the opportunities for increased exposure through our content creation.

Fortunately, Brown possesses an extensive collection of outfits suitable for this line of work. Additionally, he exhibits a remarkable willingness to take risks, making him an appealing addition to play-virginia.com’s team of local drivers. Furthermore, like numerous NASCAR drivers, he enjoys a devoted following of fans.

Naturally, Brown possesses the necessary acting skills, including stunt work, for this kind of job, as was evident from his performance in the sponsorship video.

He chuckled as he proudly mentioned, “I must say, I take great pride in the fact that we managed to film the entire video in a single take, even including the garbage-can leg kick!”
