Caesars Casino Resort Danville is expected to make significant progress following the recent construction update in Danville.

The $500 million casino, hotel, and resort project in Danville received resounding support from its residents in 2020, making it one of the four cities in Virginia to approve the establishment of casinos.

The Danville casino construction process is underway, with officials making preparations for important milestones leading up to its anticipated opening in 2025.

Next month, officials will face a significant decision that they need to make.

Choosing a contractor for Danville casino construction

The former Dan River Mills industrial complex will be transformed into the Caesars Casino Resort Danville by officials.

During Tuesday’s Danville City Council meeting, Robert Livingston, the senior vice president of development for Caesars Entertainment, informed that the site’s demolition and clean-up work have already been initiated by the crews.

Situated in the Schoolfield area, the industrial complex finds its place along the serene banks of the Dan River. In order to make space for the future Danville casino complex, a considerable amount of land in the area required extensive clearing. Since September, workers have been diligently engaged at the site, yet there is still a substantial amount of demolition work that needs to be completed.

Bids for the project’s general contractor will be accepted by Caesars officials starting in January. The deadline for bids is within the next few weeks, and officials anticipate making a prompt selection thereafter.

Representatives from construction companies at both the national and regional levels were present in Danville to conduct an examination of the site.

As Livingston said:

The Danville construction market alone lacks the sufficient size to encompass all the requirements of this project.

Construction is expected to commence in the spring.

Caesars’ focus on the local community

Caesars Casino Resort Danville is not just about the casino itself; it encompasses a complex project with various aspects.

  • A 500-room hotel
  • Poker Room for the World Series
  • Caesars Sportsbook
  • Meeting and convention space
  • Commercial establishments such as bars, restaurants, and retail stores

Both Danville and Caesars officials are actively searching for opportunities to engage numerous local and minority-owned businesses and contractors in the extensive project, which is valued at half a billion dollars.

After the officials have chosen a general contractor, it will be anticipated that they conduct outreach and informational sessions.

Livingston stated that it is a component of his commitment to Danville.

He stated that they have made significant promises to the community and are determined to uphold them. They are requesting all general contractors who are bidding on this project to provide details about their previous experiences collaborating with minority contractors.
