BetMGM at Nationals Park

The expansion of BetMGM in the DMV continues with the introduction of their services at Nationals Park.

On Thursday, it was officially announced that the BetMGM mobile sports betting app can now be accessed at the Washington Nationals’ home ballpark.

The BetMGM app, which was introduced in Virginia earlier this year, can be accessed within a two-block radius of Nats Park.

Earlier this year, the Nationals and BetMGM agreed to a multi-year, exclusive partnership. As a result, this is the most recent step taken in line with that agreement.

However, it will not be the sole action taken.

Details on BetMGM At Nationals Park

As mentioned before, the sports betting market in Washington, DC is quite limited. The only entity with the approval to accept bets throughout the District (excluding federal lands) is GambetDC, which is backed by the DC Lottery.

Similar to William Hill’s presence at Capital One Arena, BetMGM will also have a small portion of the nation’s capital where it can now accept online wagers.

Later this year, BetMGM and the Nationals have plans to open a retail sportsbook that will be connected to Nationals Parks.

Adam Greenblatt, the CEO of BetMGM, expressed

We are excited to announce that BetMGM will be launching in Washington, D.C. at Nationals Park. This marks the beginning of our expansion plans in the region, following our successful venture in Virginia. The Washington Nationals have been exceptional partners, dedicated to enhancing the fan experience within the stadium. We eagerly anticipate the opening of our retail sportsbook at the stadium later this year.

Both iOS and Android users can access the BetMGM app.

BetMGM in Virginia

Out of the seven VA online sportsbooks that currently accept wagers, BetMGM emerged as the third one. Alongside FanDuel, which holds 53% of the sports-betting handle, and DraftKings with 24%, BetMGM claimed a 14% share and established itself as one of the frontrunners in VA sports betting from the beginning.

The BetMGM app in DC has a limited range, making it unlikely to attract curious sports bettors from Virginia without additional incentives.

Nevertheless, with the capacity restrictions lifted, Nationals Park is expected to regain its popularity as a favored destination. Furthermore, individuals visiting the town now have the opportunity to place a BetMGM wager, regardless of their location outside the borders of Virginia.

The BetMGM officials have expressed a strong positive outlook on the DMV (DC/Maryland/Virginia) region, with a notable focus on Nats fans currently.

According to Alan Gottlieb, the Chief Operating Officer of Lerner Sports Group,

By being our designated sports betting partner, BetMGM elevates the already remarkable fan experience in Washington, D.C. with its cutting-edge entertainment offerings. Through the BetMGM mobile app, our fans can now interact with the game in fresh and thrilling ways. Additionally, the BetMGM sportsbook, conveniently located at Nationals Park, will serve as a premier destination for Nationals fans and the DC community to come together and celebrate their love for sports.
