Potential Portsmouth casino job details will soon be available for employment-seekers.

Should the upcoming voter referendum in the Virginia city prove successful, the Rivers Casino Portsmouth resort may transform into a tangible reality.

In the event that it happens, Rush Street Gaming officials will initiate a hiring frenzy.

The gaming company has recently unveiled an upcoming “Informational Jobs Forum” virtual event scheduled for Tuesday, September 15. Attendees can choose from two sessions, one at 4 p.m. and another at 7 p.m.

The construction of the project can proceed if the November referendum is approved, enabling Rush Street Gaming and the Portsmouth Economic Development Authority to move forward.

Each one-hour session will contain the same content, meaning job-seekers only need to attend one of them. Moreover, there is no requirement for advanced registration, but candidates can send their questions via email beforehand to [email protected].

At the virtual job fair, esteemed Rush Street Gaming executives will address the importance of cultivating a diverse workforce.

Jacob Oberman, the senior vice president of development for Rush Street Gaming, expressed that there will be enticing job opportunities available.

Bringing diverse job opportunities to Portsmouth fills us with immense pride, as Rivers casinos have consistently enhanced the lives of our team members and their families across various markets. The employees themselves have acclaimed all Rivers casinos as exceptional workplaces, consistently voting them as ‘Top Workplace’.

Portsmouth is among the five prospective casinos in Virginia that may commence operations within the upcoming years. The legalization of gambling by the Virginia General Assembly earlier this year has led to voting opportunities for residents of Bristol, Danville, and Norfolk on November 3rd. However, the decision regarding the casino fate in Richmond is anticipated to be determined through a vote in 2021.

Rivers Casino Portsmouth details

In July, Portsmouth disclosed its selection of Rush Street Gaming as its preferred casino partner. The Virginia Lottery promptly granted certification to the company, which will oversee casino gambling in the state.

The Rivers Casino Portsmouth is envisioned as a comprehensive gaming, hotel, conference, and entertainment complex, with an estimated worth of $300 million.

The resort will be located on Victory Boulevard, with Rush Street committing to a minimum payment of $10 million to the city for the site.

According to officials’ estimations, the Portsmouth region could receive an annual injection of $200 million from the casino. Additionally, it has the potential to generate tax revenue of up to $16 million per year.
