October 2022 Virginia casino revenue holds steady

The recently released October 2022 Virginia casino figures indicate that Bristol Casino, soon to be the new location for Hard Rock, is generating a consistent stream of revenue.

In its latest reporting month, the temporary casino in Bristol yielded over $14.1 million in revenue. The Virginia Lottery has now issued four consecutive reports, with October being the most recent.

The opening of Hard Rock’s site in Bristol marks the debut of the first temporary casino in the state, which took place in July.

The revenue generated by Bristol Casino up to now is:

  • July’s opening on 7/8 resulted in a total of $11,717,478.
  • August — $14,279,379
  • September — $14,305,177
  • October — $14,144,159.77

Revenue from both slot machines and table games remained steady in October, slightly declining compared to September. However, in Bristol, the preference for slots over table games among gamblers continues to be significantly higher.

Slot revenue

  • July — $10.2 million
  • August — $11.4 million
  • September — $11.3 million
  • October — $11.2 million

Table game revenue

  • July — $1.5 million
  • August — $2.8 million
  • September — $3 million
  • October — $2.9 million

In total, the state benefitted from over $2.5 million in taxes raised by the casino.

  • The regional commission will receive approximately $849,000 (6%), which they can allocate towards priorities such as education transportation and public safety.
  • Gambling treatment programs receive a funding of $20,368 from the state, which accounts for 0.8% of the total expenditure.
  • The Family and Children’s Trust Fund receives a designated amount of $5,091 from the state, accounting for 0.2% of the total. This fund is specifically allocated towards addressing and preventing family violence.

After deducting expenses, $1.67 million is allocated to the Gaming Proceeds Fund, as mandated by state law, to support Virginia’s K-12 education program.

In April 2022, the Virginia Lottery Board granted approval for the casino license of Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Subsequently, on July 8, the first group of bettors made their way to the establishment.

The future home of Hard Rock at Bristol Casino offers a range of exciting amenities including three restaurants, over 870 slot machines, 21 table games, convenient betting windows for the Hard Rock Sportsbook, and a Rock Shop retail store.

The developers aim to establish a complete casino in Bristol by the summer of 2025.

This month, there is a possibility that Allie Evangelista, the president of the casino, will be leading a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol, marking a significant milestone.

The proposed plans for Bristol include the construction of 700 hotel rooms along with:

  • A 100,000+ square-foot casino
  • Almost 30,000 slots
  • 100 table games
  • 20,000-seat, outdoor live-music venue
  • 3,200-seat amphitheater
  • retail shops
  • spa
  • pool
