September Virginia Lottery winners are experiencing a surge of excitement as the weather begins to cool down.

The Virginia Lottery had a $10 million day on Sept. 27 when three residents from Old Dominion were announced as individual lottery winners.

Earlier this week, we were fortunate enough to witness the remarkable stories of the three lottery winners.

A $7 million breakfast

Eric Austin of Capitol Heights, Maryland was having an ordinary day until everything took a turn for the unexpected during breakfast.

While enjoying his breakfast, Austin decided to make a quick stop at the 7-Eleven near his office in Alexandria. He purchased a lottery ticket and promptly returned to work. Curious about his luck, Austin scratched off the 100X The Money slip.

Upon discovering the winning numbers, Austin was initially filled with disbelief, only to later realize that he had just secured a $7 million payday. Austin promptly informed the Virginia Lottery authorities of his incredible stroke of luck.

Initially, it failed to register. I had to glance at it multiple times!

The fortunate ticket was bought at the 7-Eleven situated on 504 John Carlyle St in Alexandria. Additionally, the store received a $10,000 payout from the Virginia Lottery for vending the winning ticket.

Austin chose to receive a lump sum payment of $4.2 million instead of the full $7 million in monthly installments over the next 30 years.

Sometimes it pays to double down for September Virginia Lottery winners

Knowing when to hold ’em and when to fold ’em is essential. Thankfully, James Mason had the wisdom to recognize that he should not walk away.

Mason made a pit stop at a retail store to exchange his victorious Virginia Lottery tickets. Rather than opting for cash, he decided to invest the winnings in a ticket for the Supreme Riches game. As he was about to leave the store, Mason excitedly scratched the ticket, only to discover that he had just won a staggering $2 million. When contacted by Virginia Lottery officials, Mason had this to share.

“I found myself slightly dazed and shocked, but the sensation was undeniably incredible.”

Mason purchased the winning scratch-off ticket from One Stop Market, located at 1023 Main St in Altavista. Additionally, the store itself was rewarded with a $10,000 prize for selling the winning ticket.

Mason, an individual employed in the construction industry, made the decision to accept a single payment of $1.25 million (pre-tax) as opposed to receiving the full prize of $2 million in yearly installments over a span of 30 years.

A superstition earns a Virginian $1 million

Ali Ghaemi chose the numbers 0-2-6-5 for the Virginia Lottery’s Pick 4 game. He purchased 200 plays for $1 each and when his numbers were drawn, he won $5,000 for each play. This resulted in a total prize of $1 million for Ali Ghaemi, who resides in Alexandria.

Ghaemi chose that particular number sequence due to his birth in February 1965. The retired real estate agent informed the Virginia Lottery that he didn’t have an extravagant response upon discovering his victory.

I have to admit, I haven’t reached my limit yet. I can’t say that I’ve made any significant progress.

Ghaemi purchased 200 tickets from the Safeway store located at 1688 Anderson Road in McLean. His motive behind buying such a large quantity was his upcoming departure from town. Hoping to increase his chances of winning, Ghaemi opted for more tickets than his usual purchase, and his decision turned out to be highly fortunate.
