When you include a Virginia Lottery scratch ticket with your purchase, that stogie can occasionally transform into a victory cigar.
Sherod Hawkins from Palmyra recently discovered this firsthand after purchasing both cigars and a Payday Bonu$ scratch ticket. His purchase was made at the beginning of the weekend at the Crofton Plaza Fas Mart in Palmyra. Hawkins shared his experience with the Virginia Lottery.
While I was inside the store, my gaze suddenly shifted upwards to spot that ticket. At that moment, I made the decision to go ahead and obtain it.
The prizes for Payday Bonu$ vary between $20 and $500,000, with Hawkins winning the highest reward. He decided to scratch his ticket right in the parking lot of Fas Mart.
He said, “I paused and thought to myself, ‘Hold on a second. Something seems off here.'”
According to the Virginia Lottery, there are still two unclaimed $500,000 Payday prizes. Hawkins and other Virginia Lottery customers had a slim chance of 1 in 1,672,800 of winning.
How to play the Payday Bonu$ Virginia Lottery scratch ticket
The task is quite simple. Every Payday Bonu$ scratcher contains a grid with 20 squares. Each square displays a pair of numbers, such as 21|60 or 40|34. You receive a prize if the two numbers in a square match, for instance, 21|21. The prize amount is shown right below the matching pair. Additionally, the game includes a 10x bonus feature.
As of Aug. 29, here is the current status of the remaining prizes in Payday Bonu$ after Hawkins claimed the initial $500,000 win.
- There are still 24 out of 30 chances to win $5,000.
- There are 1,904 units remaining out of a total of 2,396, which is equivalent to $500.
- There are 6,597 units remaining out of the original 8,181 units, which is equivalent to $200.
- After deducting $72,818 from $100, there is a remaining balance of $17,182.
- There are 487,990 wins out of the original 604,275 remaining, with a wager range of $20 to $70.
The chances of winning any prize from your $10 ticket are 1 in 6.97.
Since 1999, the Virginia Lottery has contributed over $11 billion to K-12 public schools. This amount includes $779 million from the most recent fiscal year.
Virginia’s education budget is funded by approximately 10% of the proceeds from the lottery.
The Virginia Lottery scratchers vary in cost, starting from $1 and going up to $30. Unfortunately, the top prize of $10 million for the Extreme Millions scratch game has already been claimed by a lucky winner.
