How to play: 2022 New Year’s Millionaire Raffle

Starting from November 2nd, tickets for the 2022 New Year’s Millionaire Raffle have been made available for purchase. Similar to previous years since its introduction in 2007, once all tickets are sold out, no additional ones will be printed, according to officials.

The cost of a single ticket for the New Year’s Millionaire Raffle is $20.

This lottery game is undeniably more expensive compared to others. Nevertheless, numerous Virginia Lotto players are enthusiastic and willing to spend $20 for a chance to win a million-dollar grand prize.

To participate in the raffle, you can easily buy a ticket from one of the 5,000 VA Lotto retailers. Alternatively, you have the option to purchase tickets from VA Lottery self-service machines, just like I did during my visit to Rosie’s Gaming Emporium in 2021. Regrettably, online purchase of raffle tickets is not available.

Winning numbers will be drawn by officials on January 1st. If any of the drawn numbers match the ones on your ticket, you will be declared the winner.

These are the prizes for the 2022 New Year’s Millionaire Raffle:

  • There are four winners who have a chance of 1 in 125,000 to win $1 million.
  • There will be a total of 6 winners who will each receive a prize of $100,000. The odds of winning this prize are 1 in 83,333.
  • The prize is $500 for 500 winners, with odds of 1 in 980.

Yes, the New Year’s raffle will sell out

On Monday, the number of raffle tickets bought by aspiring millionaires exceeded 80,000, accounting for approximately 16.6% of the total available. Nevertheless, anticipate a substantial increase in sales during the upcoming weeks.

After all, the 2022 New Year’s Millionaire Raffle tickets are expected to be completely sold out by lottery retailers.

Officials expanded the total number of available raffle tickets from 375,000 to 500,000 for the 2021 raffle, and astonishingly, all tickets were sold. Due to the raffle’s fixed odds and prizes structure, officials are unable to issue additional tickets.

In the past few years, raffle tickets have been completely sold out by Christmas Day. Therefore, if you plan on giving a raffle ticket as a holiday gift or stocking stuffer, it’s advisable not to delay. Even Santa himself cannot magically procure a ticket once they are all gone.

Whether you’re gifting raffle tickets or the beloved scratch-off games by the Virginia Lottery, always remember the essential guidelines for lottery presents.

  • Play responsibly.
  • Minors are prohibited from participating in lottery games.
