The Bristol Mall site is set to undergo casino construction as officials have submitted their plans to begin the project.
Soon, work on Hard Rock Casino and Resort Bristol will commence, with crews taking charge.
When can we expect the $400 million Virginia casino to open its doors?
It happens that there are two responses to that inquiry.
Plans for Bristol casino construction
Prior to commencing the construction of the Bristol casino, crews are required to remove any obstacles in order to make way for the extensive casino-resort.
The site of the abandoned Bristol Mall, which used to be a thriving retail center for the city on the Virginia-Tennessee border, will now be transformed by officials into a casino, sportsbook, hotel, conference center, and live-music venue. Despite its emptiness since the departure of the last retailer in 2017, this location will soon be revitalized with these exciting new developments.
However, officials have now informed the Johnson City Press that they have submitted plans to revamp the 500,000-square-foot facility and the surrounding land, as stated in their statement.
The demolition plan for the Mall has been submitted to the city in relation to the preliminary site evaluation work required prior to the finalization of our design for the temporary casino.
We are continuing our close collaboration with the Virginia Lottery to progress with the construction of the temporary gaming facility and plan for the permanent one. We are grateful for the ongoing support and cooperation provided by local and state officials in fulfilling all necessary permitting and licensing requirements.
As mentioned in our previous report, Hard Rock International, along with local entrepreneurs Jim McGlothlin and Clyde Stacey, have outlined their strategy to gradually launch the Hard Rock Casino and Resort Bristol.
When is the initial opening? It’s happening very soon, actually.
Q1 targeted for temporary Bristol casino opening
Assuming compliance from Virginia regulators and adherence to construction timelines, Hard Rock Bristol is expected to commence operations by the end of the first quarter of 2022. This means that construction of the Bristol casino will begin promptly, and a temporary casino will be available within a few months.
The resort will be fully operational, including its completed hotel and other facilities, by late 2025 or early 2025.
Nevertheless, being the first to enter the market in Danville, Norfolk, and Portsmouth would provide the Bristol casino with a significant advantage over its competitors.
Additionally, Bristol can expect to receive tax revenue along with the creation of 1,000 temporary construction jobs and 2,000 permanent full-time positions at an accelerated pace.
With an impressive 71.1% of voters in favor, the construction and opening of the Bristol casino should happen without delay.
