Although Virginia Powerball players didn’t win the jackpot, they still managed to come out victorious in Monday’s drawing, in multiple ways.

The $699.8 million jackpot was claimed by a fortunate Powerball player in California on Monday.

The drawing that took place on October 4th garnered a considerable amount of attention. This was mainly due to the fact that there had been 41 Powerball drawings since June without a single winner of the grand prize, resulting in its continuous growth.

The ticket sales for the drawing were fast-paced. Surprisingly, a Powerball player from Virginia managed to win a whopping $1 million without stepping out of their house.

$1M won via Virginia Powerball online

On October 4th, the victorious combination for the $700 million draw consisted of the numbers 12, 22, 54, 66, and 69, accompanied by a Powerball number of 15.

The prize ranked as the seventh-largest in the history of US lotteries and the fifth-largest in the history of Powerball.

By offering online ticket purchases, the Virginia Lottery enables players to buy Powerball tickets, along with Mega Millions tickets. Taking advantage of this convenience, a resident from the Virginia city of Oakton successfully purchased a ticket. Consequently, the player secured a substantial $1 million prize by matching the initial five numbers, although missing out on the Powerball.

Each Powerball ticket is priced at $2. If the winner of $1 million had opted for the additional $1 Power Play, their non-jackpot reward would have been multiplied to $2 million.

Two Virginia Powerball winners, in addition to the $1M prize, each won $50,000 by matching four numbers plus the Powerball. One ticket was bought at Giant Food in Springfield, located at 8320 Old Keene Mill Road, while the other was purchased at Joe’s Kwik Mart in Orange, found at 120 Berry Hill Road.

A total of 53,000 tickets were bought by Virginia Powerball players, all of which won some sort of prize.

In the upcoming Wednesday drawing, players are eagerly competing for a grand prize of $20 million as the Powerball jackpot has been reset.

Although it’s not $700 million, you can still enjoy yourself with a jackpot that is $680 million less.

Powerball interest benefits K-12 education

A good lottery jackpot has the ability to create an electrifying buzz across the country.

Certainly, you have the option to participate in Powerball for multiple lifetimes, yet it remains highly improbable to overcome the staggering odds of 1 in 292 million for winning a jackpot.

However, when the Powerball jackpot reaches ridiculously high levels, a mere $2 investment in Powerball can yield some return on investment. While this may not be in the form of financial gains, it undoubtedly offers value in terms of indulging in daydreams, envisioning extravagant shopping sprees, and assembling a bucket list of unforgettable lifetime adventures.

The immense interest generated translates into a surge in ticket purchases, resulting in a remarkable profit of $17.7 million for the VA Lottery from Virginia Powerball sales. As per legal provisions, the entirety of this sum is allocated to K-12 public education in the commonwealth.

Nevertheless, it may take some time for Old Dominion and other states in the US to witness a similar frenzy for lotteries. Not only has the Powerball jackpot reverted back to $20 million, but the Mega Millions jackpot has also been reset to $45 million following a fortunate player’s victory of a $431 million prize on September 21.
