Why Monday Powerball drawings?

What was the reason behind the implementation of the new Monday Powerball drawings by officials?

Powerball, just like its main competitor Mega Millions, is renowned as a mega-jackpot game. Whenever lottery enthusiasts discuss “winning the big one,” they typically have Mega Millions or Powerball in mind.

Powerball is participated by almost all US states and several US territories. The Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL) broadcasts the live Powerball drawings at 10:59 p.m. from the Florida Lottery draw studio in Tallahassee, attracting millions of viewers.

What is the reason? The answer lies in the massive jackpots.

Since June 5, 2021, Powerball has not had a jackpot winner, leading to an accumulation of the prize money. Initially set at a minimum of $20 million per drawing, the jackpot progressively grows larger. As it reaches significant milestones like $250 million, $500 million, or even $1 billion, widespread media coverage tends to trigger a surge in ticket sales.

With the introduction of Monday Powerball drawings, those attention-grabbing jackpots are expected to arrive at a faster pace.

50% off VA Lottery Powerball tickets

In celebration of the new era of Monday Powerball drawings, the VA Lottery is providing a 50% discount on an online Powerball purchase worth $10.

On Monday, August 23, take advantage of a special offer to purchase Virginia Lottery tickets online. For just $5, you can get $10 worth of games.

Absolutely, you are still able to buy Powerball tickets from any of the 5,000-plus retailers spread across the commonwealth.

iLotto through the Virginia Lottery has gained significant popularity with the VA Lotto recording $2 billion in online lottery sales during its latest fiscal year.

Both Powerball and Mega Millions, with the latter currently offering a $270 million jackpot, played significant roles in this.

How much Powerball tickets cost

If you wish to participate in Powerball, you have two options for purchasing tickets: You can either manually select your preferred numbers, or opt for the Quick Pick feature where a computer will randomly generate them for you. Each Powerball ticket is priced at $2.

In addition to their regular ticket, Powerball players have the option to spend an additional $1 on “Power Play.” This feature guarantees a prize payout that is at least twice the original amount, excluding the grand prize.

In order to secure the Powerball jackpot, a player must successfully align all five white balls and the Powerball. The white balls are numbered from 1 to 69, while the red Powerball is numbered between 1 and 26.

With or without the new Monday drawings, the likelihood of winning the Powerball jackpot stands at approximately 1 in 292 million. Undoubtedly, it is an immense challenge to achieve.
