UFC 259 Bets: Fighters To Consider, A 100-1 Promo, And An Enticing ‘Odds Boost’

Written By Dann Stupp on March 3, 2021
Savvy UFC bettors search out good wagering opportunities. Even savvier bettors, though, simply wait for the right opportunity to come to them.

Even the most experienced bettors can find wagering on UFC fights to be a wild and unpredictable venture, often leading to frustration.

Every Saturday night in the UFC octagon, we witness frequent flash knockouts, unexpected fluke submissions, unfortunate untimely injuries, and fighters drained from tough weight cuts that deplete their energy.

As they analyze the odds and seek out chances, clever MMA bettors can account for the element of unpredictability. However, the most astute bettors prefer to patiently await the perfect opportunity to present itself.

This Saturday’s UFC 259 pay-per-view event in Las Vegas presents an effortless betting opportunity. To be precise, it would require an extraordinary achievement for this 100-1 endeavor to end up as a losing bet.

At UFC 259, a single punch from a fighter is all it takes for you to transform $1 into $100 at DraftKings Sportsbook.

A 100-1 UFC Promo at DraftKings

The UFC organizes over 40 MMA events annually, but about once every month, the leading MMA promotion takes its cagefighting spectacle to pay-per-view.

Typically, these high-caliber lineups showcase a championship bout as the main event. However, the truly extraordinary cards present one of the following options:

In UFC 259, you can expect to witness all of the mentioned elements. To be precise, this event presents an extraordinary occurrence of three title fights, which has only taken place four times throughout the 28-year existence of the UFC.

It comes as no surprise that DraftKings is introducing a unique promotion exclusively for Saturday’s significant event. By placing a mere $1 bet, you have the chance to win $100 if any fighter in your selected match successfully lands a solitary punch.

A UFC fight where not a single punch is thrown? It’s a rarity that occurs less often than having three title fights on a card. Therefore, unless there is an incredibly exceptional lack of offensive action, this bet should be a guaranteed and effortless victory.

Details for DraftKings’ UFC 259 Promo

The guidelines for the 100-1 promotion are fairly straightforward.

To begin, select one of the three title fights scheduled for the night.

Then, follow these guidelines:

That sums it up. Unless there’s an extremely brief fight, you’ll receive your $100 bonus.

Why UFC 259 Is Appointment Viewing

I must admit, MMA has a significant significance in my life. With 15 years of experience in covering the sport and witnessing numerous fights from ringside, it’s difficult not to get excited about the extensive 15-fight lineup of UFC 259.

There are several captivating aspects to the UFC 259 headliner. Firstly, we witness the undefeated middleweight champion Israel Adesanya (20-0) stepping up a weight class to challenge the reigning light heavyweight champion Jan Błachowicz (27-8).

In this highly anticipated superfight, we have Adesanya, a captivating showman hailing from Nigeria but representing New Zealand, who at the age of 31 possesses immense potential to shape the future of the sport. His opponent is Błachowicz, a formidable Polish fighter aged 38, who has defied the odds in his previous nine bouts, emerging victorious in eight of them despite being considered the underdog.

In the PPV finale at 10 p.m., Błachowicz (+185), who has made a strong comeback, finds himself once again considered an underdog as he faces Adesanya (-230).

On paper, the co-headliner may not appear to be as competitive, but this is a common occurrence for Amanda Nunes, who holds the title of the most accomplished female fighter in MMA history. With a record of 20-4, Nunes is a significant favorite at -1250 and will defend her featherweight belt against the underdog challenger Megan Anderson, who stands at +750.

Furthermore, in the opening title fight of the night, bantamweight champion Petr Yan (-110) will face Aljamain Sterling (-110), initially considered the underdog. Nevertheless, astute bettors of UFC 259 quickly bet against the initial odds of Sterling +125, resulting in the match being considered an even contest.

Other UFC 259 Bets to Consider at DraftKings

UFC 259 provides numerous betting opportunities, particularly if you explore the lower matches on the prelims airing on ESPN+ (6 p.m.) and ESPN (8 p.m.).

Tim Elliott (+102) and Thiago Santos (+138) are both favored by myself and other seasoned MMA bettors due to their attractive plus-money odds.

Many people are also favoring two aging veterans who are losing their popularity. Casey Kenney is widely chosen as the favorite (-137) over former bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz (+110). Similarly, Askar Askarov (-134) is favored over former flyweight title challenger Joseph Benavidez (+110) by many. However, personally, I have conflicting feelings about these picks as my head and heart disagree (I have a sentimental attachment to the older fighters).

I have a liking for Sean Brady (-230) and believe he is a solid choice for a straight play or as part of your parlay. However, similar to Elliott, it might be wise to hold off on placing your bet and monitor the line movements to ensure they continue in our favor.

Furthermore, a particular wager that I hold in high regard on the card is an exclusive “Odds Boost” proposition provided by DraftKings. This unique bet combines Adesanya, Nunes, and Sterling as the chosen winners in a parlay. By manually placing this parlay bet, you would receive odds of +197, as of Wednesday afternoon.

Thanks to DraftKings’ “Odds Boost” option, your odds are increased to +250 odds. If you were to bet $20 on the manual parlay and win, you would receive $39.40. However, with the UFC 259 Odds Boost, your winnings would be boosted by 29.4% to $50. I believe Adesanya and Nunes will successfully defend their titles, while Sterling will dethrone Yan. Therefore, I am gladly opting for the larger payout. Thanks, DraftKings!
