FanDuel Spreading The Love And Making The Washington Wizards A Winning Play

Written By Dann Stupp on January 29, 2021Last Updated on January 30, 2021

Do you believe the Washington Wizards have a chance of winning on Sunday? Maybe they can at least keep the game fairly competitive. If a sufficient number of other bettors share this sentiment, the game might present some incredibly favorable betting odds.

Virginia sports betting officially began last week in the commonwealth, with FanDuel Sportsbook leading the way by promptly accepting wagers.

FanDuel is currently offering an exclusive promotion called “Spread the Love” specifically designed for sports bettors from Virginia.

As more and more supporters of the Wizards join in on this one-of-a-kind betting opportunity, the chances of winning will only improve.

‘Spread the Love’ with Wizards vs. Nets

FanDuel is bringing back its popular “Spread the Love” promotion, but this time it’s being offered for the first time in Virginia. In previous states, FanDuel allowed sports bettors to place wagers on their hometown teams, and the more people participated, the greater the benefits for all.

The game between the Washington Wizards (3-11) and the Brooklyn Nets (12-8) offers an opportunity for bettors in Virginia. It will be held at the Capital One Arena in Washington, DC, and will be broadcasted nationally on NBA TV at 7 p.m. ET on Sunday.

At FanDuel, the Wizards initially started as underdogs with a 9.5-point disadvantage, but thanks to the “Spread the Love” promotion, bettors have already secured a significantly improved line for themselves.

Here’s how it works:

  • The spread in favor of the Wizards will be adjusted by one point in the special market for every 250 bets placed by FanDuel customers.
  • The line of +9.5 had already skyrocketed to an astonishing +65.5 by Friday afternoon. This means that even if the Wizards were to lose by a massive score of 100-35, the bet would still be considered a winner under that line.
  • Each wager carries odds of -110, and the maximum bet allowed is $50.

Please exercise caution and ensure that you place your bet using the designated market or tab for the exclusive “Spread the Love” line, rather than the regular NBA section.

Maybe the surge of betting support could be the remedy that Washington desperately requires. The Wizards are facing difficulties and presently find themselves at the bottom of the Southeastern Division in the Eastern Conference.

Before the game against the Atlanta Hawks on Friday, the team had faced three consecutive losses. This losing streak followed a period of almost two weeks where Washington had to halt its activities due to a COVID-19 outbreak.

Expect More Love for Washington Teams

Virginia finds itself in a rather distinctive position, with the absence of any professional sports teams in the major leagues within the commonwealth.

Do not be shocked if FanDuel and other sportsbooks in Virginia heavily favor Washington teams. Sportsbooks have a tendency to center their promotions and contests on local sports teams. In Virginia, this will probably result in “Spread the Love” and other team-specific promotions for the Wizards, along with:

  • NFL’s Washington Football Team
  • MLB’s Washington Nationals
  • NHL’s Washington Capitals
  • Teams from nearby states including Maryland, Tennessee, and North Carolina.

Certainly, the Wizards may not be the team you support. Perhaps you do not closely follow the NBA.

Can you believe it? The Washington Wizards are poised to score close to 100 points before the game even starts. This is a remarkable opportunity to gain a significant advantage over the sportsbook. Such chances are few and far between.

Considering the unbalanced lineup, it is highly likely that even the Washington Generals would be able to provide sufficient coverage.
