The holiday season has officially arrived.
The Virginia Lottery has introduced a fresh line of scratch-off tickets that offer instant-win prizes reaching up to $100,000. These new additions expand the lottery’s existing assortment of over 30 scratch-off games, which can be found at over 5,000 retailers within the Virginia Lottery network.
In addition, the lottery introduced two new online games for the holiday season: Holiday Towers and Holiday Gold.
The Holiday Trio: Luck, Gold, and Cash
The lottery introduces three new scratchers for the holiday season: Holiday Luck, Holiday Gold, and Holiday Cash.
Holiday Luck
The $5 scratch-off belongs to the Lucky X15 series of the lottery, offering players 15 opportunities to win. The scratch-off features a row of “Holiday Numbers” at the top. If any numbers in the three rows below the Holiday Numbers match, players win the corresponding prize. The highest prize possible for this ticket is $100,000.
You can earn either an instant win or multiplied prizes in four different ways.
- The Candy Cane guarantees an immediate victory with the displayed reward.
- To multiply the prize shown by five, use the formula 5X.
- Multiply the displayed prize by 10.
- To find the total prize, simply multiply the displayed amount by 15.
The chances of winning a prize are 1 in 3.83, while the chances of winning the top prize are 1 in 1.53 million. Currently, there are still three tickets worth $100,000 in circulation.
Holiday Gold
Holiday Gold is a game that costs $2 and offers a chance to win a top prize of $20,000. Each ticket gives players 10 opportunities to match their numbers with three winning numbers.
There are two versions of the scratcher: if you reveal a Christmas tree, you instantly win the corresponding prize, while a candy cane will multiply the displayed number by five.
The probability of winning any prize is 1 out of 4.32, while the probability of winning the game’s grand prize of $20,000 is 1 out of 979,200. As of the time of publication, there is only one remaining $20,000 prize.
Holiday Cash
Completing the fresh assortment of holiday scratch-off tickets is Holiday Cash, a game worth $1, offering a chance to win a grand prize of $1,000. This game features four different color options: silver, gold, green, and red.
Scratchers offer six opportunities to win and, similar to both holiday and non-holiday games, include bonuses and prize multipliers. If a scratcher reveals a holiday present, it guarantees an instant win corresponding to the displayed prize. In case a double dollar sign symbol appears, the prize shown is multiplied by two.
The probability of obtaining a winning ticket is 1 out of 4.41, while the likelihood of winning $1,000 is 1 out of 1.02 million. As per the latest update, there are still three $1,000 prizes available.
Losing tickets eligible for eXTRA Chances promotion
The Virginia Lottery’s eXTRA Chances promotion extends to all three of their new holiday scratchers. This promotion allows players a second chance to win by entering the number from their non-winning ticket on the lottery’s website, scanning it through the lottery’s app, or mailing it to the Virginia Lottery.
The second opportunity rewards consist of tickets to concerts, a getaway to a tropical destination, and gift cards for home improvements.
